400 Golfers to Tee Off at Tukur Buratai Golf Resort for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Tournament
The nation’s capital is set to host a spectacular sporting celebration as over 400 golf enthusiasts converge for the Nigeria @ 65 Independence Golf Tournament at the prestigious Tukur Yusuf Buratai International Golf Resort and Country Club (TYB-IGRCC).
The week-long event is a major highlight of the activities slated to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. According to the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr. James Agbonhese, the tournament is designed to be more than just a competition. It is a patriotic effort aimed at promoting unity, camaraderie, discipline, and national pride among participants from across the country.
A significant aspect of the celebration is the dedication of the tournament to the Nigerian Army, with plans to honour both retired and serving officers for their roles in safeguarding national unity.
In a move to elevate the golfing experience at the resort, the event will also feature the official commissioning of new world-class facilities. These additions include a modern golf practice range, a midway hut, a back nine starter shed, and a golf cart bay. Dr. Agbonhese expressed gratitude to the Grand Patron of the tournament, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for his steadfast support in ensuring the success of the event, which promises to be a symbolic tribute to the nation’s journey and heritage.
