Governor Fubara Declares Rivers “Most Peaceful Destination” for Business, Citing Large Turnout at Rotary Conference as Evidence
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, today, Saturday, November 22, 2025, boldly declared that Rivers State is now one of the most peaceful destinations in Nigeria, suitable for both tourists and business investors.
Making the declaration at the All Nigeria Rotary Conference, Port Harcourt, 2025, the Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, strongly condemned what he termed a persistent campaign of misinformation aimed at sabotaging the state’s image.
“We deeply appreciate your choice of the city of Port-Harcourt as your place of convergence… Your presence is a testament, and a tick of pass-mark on the scorecard that Rivers State is indeed peaceful and safe,” Fubara told the hundreds of delegates.
Countering Negative Narratives
The Governor’s assertion is seen as a move to counter the lingering negative perceptions that arose from months of intense political friction within the state. Fubara previously accused political opponents of “weaponizing” the state’s security challenges to distort public perception.
The success of the Rotary Conference, which attracted business leaders and policy makers from across Nigeria and several African countries, served as the Governor’s key evidence that normalcy and security have returned.
In recognition of his efforts, the Governor was honored by the Rotary District of Nigeria with the Peace Advocate Award, a gesture that solidifies the view that Fubara’s commitment to brokering peace has yielded positive results.
Furthermore, Fubara appealed to the Rotary District to utilize its resources in partnership with the State Government for youth mentorship and leadership training, arguing that engaging the state’s energetic youth in positive endeavors is the most sustainable strategy for reducing crime and maintaining lasting peace.
