Bauchi Police Hand Over Suspected Drug Dealer and N12.2m Worth of Narcotics Seized in Recent Raid to NDLEA for Prosecution
The Bauchi State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to seamless collaboration with sister agencies by initiating the handover of a suspected drug dealer and a substantial quantity of seized illicit narcotics to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution. The action follows a successful, intelligence-led raid conducted in Ningi Local Government Area.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed that the seized drugs include a large consignment of pharmaceutical narcotics, specifically 17,500 sachets of Tramadol and 487 packs of Diazepam (D5), collectively valued at approximately N12.2 million. The drugs were recovered following the arrest of the principal suspect, Ogbu Simon, who was apprehended after a diligent follow-up operation by the Police’s Operation Restore Peace unit, having fled the scene of the initial raid on November 26, 2025.
CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, has directed that the suspect and the exhibits be formally transferred to the NDLEA, Bauchi Command, as part of the established procedure for handling drug-related offenses. The Commissioner reiterated the command’s unwavering focus on combating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking, noting that such substances are often a major catalyst for violent crimes and banditry in the state. The handover underscores the continuous operational synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the NDLEA in their joint effort to curb the flow of illegal substances into and across the North-East region.
