IGP Egbetokun Appoints Experienced Lawyer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as New Ogun Police PRO, Replaces CSP Omolola Odutola

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ogun State Police Command. The strategic appointment, announced, sees DSP Babaseyi replacing CSP Omolola Odutola, who has been redeployed to the Lagos State Police Command in an undisclosed capacity.

DSP Babaseyi brings a unique blend of legal expertise and operational experience to his new role in the strategically important state that borders Lagos. Until his new posting, he served as the Deputy PPRO for the Lagos State Police Command, where he earned commendations for his accessibility and transparency during a brief tenure as Acting PPRO. Notably, Babaseyi is a trained Barrister-at-Law (BL), having completed his legal education from the Nigerian Law School and the Nigeria Police Academy.

The new PPRO’s operational profile includes serving as a Unit Commander with the Police Mobile Force and participation in joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North-East. This diverse background is expected to be pivotal in managing the state’s security narrative and enhancing public trust. The IGP’s decision is viewed as part of a broader effort to inject highly competent personnel into key communication roles to improve community policing and ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information to the public in Ogun State.
