BATTLE OF THE GIANTS! Dangote Takes the Fight to the EFCC; Drags Ex-Fuel Regulator to Court Over Alleged ‘Dirty Fuel’ Scams and Sabotage!
The “gloves are off” in the war between Aliko Dangote and the oil regulators. Africa’s richest man has officially dragged the former boss of the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, to the EFCC over massive corruption claims.
Dangote isn’t just complaining anymore he’s accusing the former regulator of trying to “kill” his multi-billion dollar refinery to favor foreign oil traders. According to the petition, the former NMDPRA head allegedly looked the other way while “dirty,” low-quality fuel was being dumped into the Nigerian market, all while putting impossible roadblocks in front of Dangote’s high-quality, locally made petrol.
The petition claims this wasn’t just a mistake; it was a “well-organized plan” to keep Nigeria dependent on expensive imports. Dangote alleges that the ex-boss and a “cabal” of importers worked together to spread lies about the quality of the refinery’s products just to protect their own profits.
This move has sent shockwaves through the oil and gas industry. For years, there have been whispers about the “oil mafia” in Nigeria, but this is the first time a major player like Dangote has named names and asked the EFCC to step in.
The EFCC is now expected to dig into the bank accounts and private deals of the former agency head. If these claims are proven true, it could be the biggest corruption scandal to hit the Nigerian energy sector in decades.
