Adeleke Declares for Second Term Under Accord Party; Vows to Sweep 28 LGAs as Osun Guber Battle Hits Fever Pitch

Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially thrown down the gauntlet for the 2026 Osun State governorship race, declaring on Wednesday, March 11, that his track record of infrastructure “revolution” and worker welfare makes his re-election a necessity for the state’s progress. Speaking in Osogbo, the Governor “flipped the script” on his critics, arguing that the people of Osun will reward his administration for fixing the “financial mess” he inherited in 2022.

Adeleke, who is seeking a fresh mandate under his new political home, the Accord Party, cited the successful payment of ₦100 billion in pension arrears and the completion of over 350 kilometers of roads as his “certificate of performance.” He maintained that the “State of Harmony” can only be sustained if voters reject the “dark forces” attempting to return the state to an era of “half-salaries” and abandoned projects. “Our strengths are in God and the people whom we have served evidently,” Adeleke stated, dismissing the APC’s recent campaign launch as the “desperate shadows of a rejected party.”

The Governor’s declaration comes amid rising tensions over the August 15 election date. With the APC already on the warpath, Adeleke warned that “election is not war” but cautioned that any attempt to subvert the will of the people would be met with fierce “electoral activism” from the grassroots. He predicted a landslide victory, claiming his “Imole” agenda has reached every corner of the state, from the new flyovers in the cities to the 332 boreholes in the rural wards.

As the race transforms into a high-stakes duel between Adeleke’s populist welfarism and the APC’s technocratic promises, the Governor has called on the international community to keep a close watch on Osun. For Adeleke, the second-term bid isn’t just about another four years, it’s about proving that his brand of “servant leadership” can survive a change in political machinery and deliver a definitive victory for the Accord Party.
