Ralph Nwosu Blasts INEC Over ‘Administrative Sabotage’; Vows That ADC Will Not Allow External Forces to Derail 2027 Opposition Agenda

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has “flipped the script” on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declaring that the party’s internal elections will proceed with or without the commission’s blessing. Ralph Nwosu addressed a gathering of party faithful, insisting that the ADC’s constitutional “Renewed Hope” for a Third Force cannot be truncated by administrative portal changes.

The “Solution” to the current impasse, according to Nwosu, is total defiance of what he labels “unlawful interference.” He argued that INEC has no business determining who leads a political party when a national convention has already made that choice. “We are not a department of the government,” Nwosu stated. “We are a sovereign political entity. If INEC thinks they can derail our programmes by clicking a button on a website, they are mistaken. Our congresses are for our members, not for bureaucrats in Abuja.”

This “Drill or Drop” moment for the ADC comes at a high cost. By moving forward with the congresses while delisted from the INEC portal, the party risks having its 2027 candidates rejected by the electoral body. However, Nwosu and the David Mark-led faction believe that the “Tsunami” of public support for their opposition coalition—which includes heavyweights like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar—will eventually force a legal or political settlement.

As state chapters in places like Katsina and Edo begin their “tinkering” with local leadership elections this weekend, the shadow of the law looms large. While the “digital trenches” of social media are filled with rumors of a leadership collapse, Nwosu’s message remains one of absolute confidence. For the ADC, the next four days are not just about choosing leaders, but about proving that the party can survive a direct collision with the state’s electoral umpire.
