NDC Praises Adeleke and Electoral Body Over Osun Poll Win, Cautions Over 2027 Moves

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has described Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election victory in Osun State as a victory for popular democracy, declaring that voter determination successfully resisted political pressure.

Reacting to the final election results, NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, praised the electorate across Osun State for coming out in large numbers to cast and safeguard their votes. The organization noted that the election outcome sends a strong message across the country that federal influence cannot override the clear choice of the people when citizens stand firm at the ballot box.

The group also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for managing a smooth and transparent election process, calling on the polling authority to maintain similar impartiality and efficiency in future elections across Nigeria.

However, the NDC added a strong note of caution regarding Governor Adeleke’s post-election political stance. The group faulted reported comments suggesting the governor offered support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential ambition, urging newly elected leaders who owe their mandates to popular grassroots support to stay accountable to the voters rather than aligning with federal political powers.
