2Baba’s Wife Natasha Takes Top Spot as Edo Assembly Minority Leader

Honorable Natasha Osawaru, the lawmaker representing Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and wife of music superstar Innocent Idibia (2Baba), has stepped into a major legislative leadership role after emerging as the new Minority Leader of the state assembly.

The announcement was made during legislative plenary following a sweeping reshuffle of principal officers in the House. The leadership restructuring also saw significant shifts at the helm, including the resignation of Speaker Blessing Agbebaku and the subsequent election of Yekini Idaiyi as the new Speaker of the 8th Assembly.

Osawaru’s rise to opposition leadership marks a key milestone in her political trajectory. Having previously served as Deputy Majority Leader during her time with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), her movement to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) earlier in the year positioned her among the principal opposition figures in the state legislature.

Speaking on her new appointment, the lawmaker expressed appreciation to her colleagues and constituents, stating that the position represents a sacred trust rather than a mere title. She pledged to maintain a high standard of legislative oversight, promote transparency, and push for community-focused initiatives centered on grassroots growth, youth empowerment, and women’s development across Edo State.
