101-Year-Old Great-Grandma Busted Selling Cannabis Sachets in Ogun After Fire Destroyed Her Shop

An anti-narcotics operation in Ogun State took a surprising turn when National Drug Law Enforcement Agency operatives arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother for allegedly retailing cannabis to local residents.

The centenarian, identified as Esther Ogunmabo, was apprehended in the Ilisan area after officers discovered 90 grams of skunk—a potent strain of cannabis—packaged in small retail sachets.

During interrogation, the suspect explained that she turned to the illicit drug trade out of economic hardship after a devastating fire destroyed her provisions store. She confessed that one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, regularly delivered fresh packages of cannabis every four days to keep her retail operation running.

In consideration of her extreme age, NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) directed that the 101-year-old suspect be granted bail and placed under counseling. Meanwhile, anti-drug operatives subsequently arrested her daughter to face charges for her role as the main supplier.
