Soludo Fires Back at Defectors, Declares APGA the Launchpad of Igbo Political Relevance

Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has launched a robust defense of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), describing the party as the foundational vehicle and “visa” through which many prominent Igbo politicians climbed to political stardom.

Speaking at the Ekwusigo Local Government Headquarters in Ozubulu during the commissioning of various capital projects, Governor Soludo expressed disappointment over the conduct of certain politicians who leveraged APGA’s platform to attain public office and influence, only to later abandon the party and dismiss its structural relevance. He noted that such figures often engage in wishful thinking by downplaying APGA’s enduring grassroots strength in the region.

The governor used the platform to address broader political alignment for Ndigbo, arguing that political strategy requires foresight rather than putting all eggs in one basket or isolating the region from the federal center. Highlighting the path forward ahead of the 2027 general elections, Soludo maintained that aligning pragmatically with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will better secure the zone’s due share of national development, even as APGA consolidates its domestic dominance across state and federal legislative positions.

“APGA remains the enduring platform of the progressive movement in the region,” Soludo asserted, criticizing politicians who hop between micro-parties out of self-interest rather than committing to collective regional advancement.

The event also featured the formal commissioning of localized infrastructure including roads, security installations, and skill acquisition centers executed by the outgoing council administration—which Soludo commended as a clear demonstration of effective resource management at the grassroots level.
