Police Find 28 Human Skulls and Bones in Abia State Camps

The police in Abia State, Nigeria, have found 28 human skulls and various bones at two suspected criminal camps in the Isuochi area. This discovery took place on Saturday during a raid by multiple police units, including those focused on violent crime and anti-kidnapping.

According to the police, the operation was part of an ongoing initiative called “Operation No Hideout for Criminal Elements in the State.” Police spokesperson DSP Maureen Chinaka reported that the suspects fled into nearby forests as the police arrived, leaving behind the camps located at Umuaku and Nneato.

Chinaka mentioned that the remains are believed to belong to victims of kidnapping. Investigations are now underway to identify the deceased and understand how they died. The police are also keeping watch over the area and are working to capture the suspects who escaped.

Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi emphasized the importance of intelligence-led operations in combating crime in Abia State. He reassured the public that the state would not be a safe place for criminals and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities to the police.
