Elon Musk Presents Tesla’s New Flying Car Prototype at SpaceX Event
Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk introduced a new prototype of a flying car during a livestreamed event at SpaceX’s facility in Texas on Thursday. He showcased the vehicle, which he described as a ‘flying’ car, equipped with thrusters that allow it to take off and land.
During the demonstration, the car launched from a steep ramp and successfully landed on its wheels. Musk stated, ‘Flying cars are real,’ but he also acknowledged that the vehicle’s success is not guaranteed, adding that it ‘will probably work.’
The new Roadster sports car features ultra high-pressure air tanks to help it lift off the ground. Musk emphasized that this project is a result of collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX, which he called ‘the world’s best car company and the world’s best rocket company.’
Production of the flying car is expected to begin in 2028. While the concept of flying cars dates back to 1917, recent advancements in electric motors and batteries have made the idea more feasible.
