Raphinha Signs Two-Year Contract Extension with Barcelona

Raphinha, the captain of FC Barcelona, has signed a contract extension that keeps him with the team until 2030. The announcement was made by the club on Thursday. The 29-year-old Brazilian forward originally joined Barcelona in 2022 and was set to be with the team until 2028.

Barcelona described the extension as a “declaration of intent,” emphasizing Raphinha’s importance to their future plans. He expressed a desire to extend his contract back in September and mentioned that he might want to finish his career at the club.

This season, Raphinha has been performing exceptionally well, scoring 19 goals and providing three assists in just 13 matches across all competitions. He took on the role of captain at the beginning of the season after the departures of Ronald Araujo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

In addition to his leadership, Raphinha has adapted his playing style, moving from his usual position on the wing to fill in for strikers Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, who have left the team. Since German coach Hansi Flick took over in 2024, Raphinha has been a key player, helping Barcelona win back-to-back La Liga titles.
