Osimhen Set for Permanent Galatasaray Return in €75m Blockbuster Deal

Osimhen Set for Permanent Galatasaray Return in €75m Blockbuster Deal

Nigerian football sensation Victor Osimhen is on the verge of completing a highly anticipated permanent transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray, marking a return to the club where he spent a successful loan spell last season. Reports from authoritative sports journalists indicate that an agreement has been reached with his parent club, Napoli, for a significant €75 million deal.

According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, with confirmation from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray and Napoli have finalized the financial aspects of the transfer. The agreement reportedly stipulates an upfront payment of €40 million, with the remaining €35 million to be paid in installments by the end of 2026.

Crucially, the deal includes a clause inserted by Napoli preventing Galatasaray from selling Osimhen to any Italian club for the next two to three years, a measure reflecting the strained relationship between the player and the Serie A club following a turbulent period, despite his heroic role in their 2022/2023 Serie A title win. Napoli had reportedly even excluded Osimhen from their pre-season camp, signaling his imminent departure and already securing a replacement.

Osimhen’s desire to make his move to Istanbul permanent has been a key factor in the negotiations. The 26-year-old striker enjoyed a phenomenal loan season at Galatasaray, netting an impressive 37 goals and providing 8 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performance was instrumental in Galatasaray’s domestic double last term. Despite receiving a colossal €160 million offer over four years from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, Osimhen reportedly prioritized staying in Europe and continuing his career at Galatasaray.

Galatasaray officials are now working on restructuring their squad to comply with the Turkish Football Federation’s foreign player quota as they prepare for Osimhen’s official unveiling. While a formal announcement from the club is still pending, all indications point towards an early-next-week unveiling, as Napoli had reportedly given Galatasaray until Monday, July 21, to submit the necessary bank guarantees to seal the deal.

This landmark transfer is set to be one of the most expensive in Turkish football history, solidifying Osimhen’s place at the forefront of European football and providing Galatasaray with a potent attacking force for the seasons to come.
