Anambra Police Taps IGP Scheme to Compensate Families of Fallen Officers

In a solemn ceremony aimed at honoring the ultimate sacrifice of its personnel, the Anambra State Police Command has presented cheques totaling ₦59.2 million to the families of 38 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The cheques were presented by the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, at a high-level strategic meeting held at the Command Headquarters in Awka. The funds were disbursed under the Inspector-General of Police’s Group Life Insurance and Family Welfare Scheme, a program designed to provide financial relief and support to the dependents of fallen heroes.

CP Orutugu stated that the gesture is a clear message from the police leadership that the sacrifices of the gallant officers will never be forgotten. He urged the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously to support their households and secure the future of the children left behind.

The event, which was also attended by area commanders and divisional police officers, served as a platform to review the command’s operational strategies and reinforce the commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing in the state. The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents while continuing to prioritize the welfare of its personnel and their families.
