Ekiti Deputy Governor Mobilizes APC Women Ahead of Oyebanji’s Second Term Campaign

Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, has commenced active mobilization among women members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, rallying their support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s anticipated second term bid. The move signals an early start to grassroots political engagement as the next gubernatorial election approaches in 2026.

Addressing a gathering of APC women leaders and members across various local government areas in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the Deputy Governor emphasized the crucial role of women as formidable grassroots mobilizers and urged them to redouble their efforts in sensitizing the populace to the achievements of the current administration.

“Our Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the welfare of Ekiti people since assuming office in October 2022,” Mrs. Afuye stated. “His administration’s impactful policies and projects across infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment are visible for all to see. It is imperative that we, as women, take this message to every household and garner overwhelming support for his continuity.”

Mrs. Afuye, who previously served as the APC State Women Leader, underscored the party’s recognition of women as a vital demographic in electoral success. She charged the women to remain united, active, and vigilant in their respective communities, stressing the need for cohesion within the party to ensure a seamless path to re-election.

The Deputy Governor’s call comes amidst growing endorsements for Governor Oyebanji’s second term. Various APC stakeholders, including leaders from senatorial districts and community groups, have already publicly endorsed his bid, citing his administration’s performance and people-centric governance. Just recently, a State Endorsement Committee was also reportedly setting plans for a statewide endorsement event.

Governor Oyebanji, who is currently serving his first four-year term which concludes in October 2026, has consistently reiterated his commitment to the development agenda encapsulated in his THEMES+ blueprint. The early mobilization by the Deputy Governor highlights the APC’s strategy to consolidate its base and ensure robust support from key demographics like women, well in advance of the official electioneering period.

Party sources indicate that the APC leadership in Ekiti views women as critical to door-to-door campaigning and voter persuasion, especially given their significant numbers in the electorate. The Deputy Governor’s rally is expected to be the first in a series of engagements aimed at building a formidable female support base for the governor’s re-election aspirations.
