Fasoranti’s Son Resigns as SSG for Senate Race; Denies Being a ‘Political Puppet’ of External Forces for Ondo Central Seat

Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti has “flipped the script” on critics who claim his political rise is merely a result of his famous family name or external influence. The former Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG) broke his silence in Akure, declaring that his quest for the Ondo Central Senatorial seat is fueled by personal passion, not “external forces” or backroom deals.

The “Solution” to the representation gap in Ondo Central, according to Fasoranti, is a leader with a “people-centric” background. Having served for three decades in the medical field—including a high-level directorate role at the State House Medical Centre in Abuja he believes he has the discipline and maturity to deliver “tangible dividends of democracy.” “My decision is entirely personal and rooted in a desire to serve,” Fasoranti stated, dismissing insinuations that influential figures were pulling his strings from the shadows.

Fasoranti’s entry into the race has sent a “Tsunami” through the local APC chapter. By resigning from Governor Aiyedatiwa’s cabinet just last week, he has shown he is ready to trade the comfort of an appointed office for the heat of an elective battle. He will be facing off against the incumbent, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, in what is already being described as a “clash of the titans” in Akure.

As he begins his wide-scale consultations across Ondo West, East, Idanre, and Akure, Fasoranti is leaning on a “Renewed Hope” message of inclusive governance. He urged youths and women to see his candidacy as proof that public service should be about “competence and character,” not just “who you know.” For the people of Ondo Central, the race for 2027 just got significantly more interesting as the Afenifere patriarch’s son steps out from the shadow of the “external forces” to carve his own path.
