FG Launches 3MTT Partner Network as EU and Denmark Pour €11m into Digital Talent; Minister Tijani Vows to Turn 3 Million Youths into Global Exports
Nigeria’s quest to become a global technology hub received a multi-million euro “shot in the arm” following the official unveiling of the 3MTT Partner Network in Lagos. The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy “flipped the script” on traditional vocational training by formalizing a massive coalition of global tech giants and international donors.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of an €11 million support package, consisting of €5 million from the European Union and €6 million from the Government of Denmark. Massimo De Luca, the EU’s Head of Cooperation to Nigeria, described the investment as a “strategic bet” on Nigeria’s youth. “Nigerian talent matters globally,” De Luca stated, noting that as Europe faces an aging workforce, Nigeria’s 3MTT program is the perfect “Solution” to fill the worldwide tech talent gap.
Minister Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani emphasized that the launch of the Partner Network marks the birth of “3MTT 2.0.” While the first phase proved that the government could train 135,000 people at scale, the new phase is all about the “finish line”—employment. By bringing in companies like Microsoft and IHS Towers as official partners, the government is creating a “front door” for organizations to hire pre-screened, job-ready Nigerians in fields like AI, Cybersecurity, and Software Development.
The initiative is a cornerstone of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda to create two million digital jobs. With 200 active learning centers now operational across all 36 states, the program is moving away from short-term “bootcamps” toward a long-term infrastructure. “We are not just training for the local market; we are positioning Nigeria as a partner to the world,” Tijani told the audience. As the EU-funded scale-up begins, the focus will now shift to tracking how many “fellows” transition from the classroom to high-paying remote and local tech roles.
