FG Opens Applications for 2026/2027 NDDC Foreign Master’s Scholarship Today; Only First-Class and 2:1 Graduates Eligible to Apply

The door to international education has swung open for thousands of young Nigerians as the Federal Government officially kicked off the 2026/2027 foreign scholarship cycle. On Monday, March 23, 2026, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) announced that it is now accepting applications for its fully-funded Foreign Master’s Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme.

The program is designed to “flip the script” for youth in oil-producing states by giving them world-class training in fields like Engineering, Law, and Technology. According to the NDDC management, the goal is to create a pool of experts who can compete globally and return to help develop the Niger Delta. To ensure only the best are selected, the commission has set a high bar: applicants must have at least a Second Class Upper degree and must pass a computer-based test scheduled to hold in Rivers State.

This launch comes at a time of big changes in Nigeria’s scholarship landscape. While the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, recently moved to suspend the old Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) to save costs, he emphasized that specialized schemes like the NDDC and PTDF (Petroleum Technology Development Fund) would continue to support talented students.

Interested candidates are advised to visit the official NDDC portal immediately to upload their documents, including their local government identification and university admission letters. With the portal set to close on April 19, the race is on for the 2026 session. For many, this represents the ultimate “Solution” to the rising cost of international tuition and a direct path to a brighter future.
