First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Unveils Vocational Empowerment Scheme for 200 PWDs in Anambra, Distributes Equipment and ₦150,000 Grants

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, today, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, formally unveiled a comprehensive empowerment scheme in Awka, Anambra State, specifically targeting the economic upliftment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The initiative, branded the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Vocational Training and Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities, saw 200 beneficiaries across the state receive substantial support designed to foster self-reliance and business independence.

During the unveiling, Senator Tinubu presided over the distribution of essential vocational equipment tailored to the needs of the beneficiaries, including items such as sewing machines, grinding machines, specialized computer sets, and other relevant trade tools. In addition to the equipment, each of the 200 PWDs received a ₦150,000 grant intended to serve as seed capital for them to immediately establish or expand their respective businesses.

The First Lady reiterated that the RHI is committed to an inclusive support system, emphasizing that the broader “Renewed Hope” agenda is a social contract that actively seeks to integrate vulnerable populations, transforming them from dependents into active and contributing members of society. She stated that her office is focused on ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in the country’s economic recovery efforts.

The First Lady of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, who hosted the event, commended the federal initiative, noting that the vocational equipment and financial grants would significantly bolster the state government’s efforts to drive economic revitalization and enhance human capital development among its most vulnerable citizens.
