Gov Bago Splashes N50m on Army Wives; Says Empowering Military Families is Key to Winning Security War!

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has put his money where his mouth is when it comes to supporting the military. In a massive show of appreciation for the “silent heroes” behind the uniforms, the Governor has donated N50 million to the associations of army wives in the state.

During a special meeting at the Government House in Minna, Governor Bago acknowledged that while soldiers are in the bushes and on the front lines fighting bandits and insurgents, their wives are at home carrying the heavy burden of the family. He noted that these women deserve more than just a “thank you” they deserve financial empowerment.

The N50 million gift is set to be used for various empowerment projects, including setting up small businesses and vocational training for the women. The Governor also specifically mentioned that part of the support should go toward helping the widows of fallen soldiers who died while protecting the state.

“When a soldier knows his family is taken care of, he fights with more courage,” the Governor said while handing over the support. He promised that this is just the beginning of a closer relationship between the state government and the military community.

The leadership of the army wives’ associations expressed immense gratitude, describing the Governor as a “true friend of the military” whose support will change many lives in the barracks.
