Ibadan Explosion Victims Fume Over ‘Missing’ N30bn Fund; Cry Out to Tinubu and Makinde as Survival Gets Tougher!

Two years have passed since the ground shook and lives were shattered in the Bodija area of Ibadan, but for the victims, the nightmare is far from over. Today, a group of survivors and business owners came together to raise a loud, desperate alarm over what they call the “disappearance” of a promised N30 billion intervention fund.

While the smoke from the explosion has long cleared, the financial ruin left behind remains. The victims, many of whom have been reduced to “temporary refugees” in their own city, are asking one simple question: Where is the financial support we were promised?

According to the victims, the N30 billion fund which was widely reported as the lifeline for rebuilding the community has remained a ghost to those who need it most. Many business owners who once ran thriving companies in the area say they are now buried in debt, unable to rebuild their shops or pay back loans they took before the tragedy.

“We have been filled with promises for 24 months,” one victim lamented during a gathering at the blast site. “They came here, took our names, took photos of our ruined homes, and told us help was coming. Now we hear billions have been approved, but our pockets are empty and our houses are still in ruins.”

The victims are now making a direct appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to look into the matter. They are demanding an audit of the funds and an immediate roadmap for disbursement, warning that the “silence” from the authorities is pushing many of them to the brink of despair.
