Ibeju-Lekki LG Deploys Multi-Agency Security Teams to All Public Schools to Protect Pupils and Strengthen Learning Environment
The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State has commenced the deployment of a multi-agency security team to public primary and secondary schools across its communities, an initiative aimed at safeguarding children and strengthening the overall learning environment within the council. The Council Chairman, Sesan Olowa, confirmed the development, stating that the measure is critical to ensuring the safety of pupils and staff following recent security breaches and abductions recorded in educational institutions across other parts of the country.
Mr. Olowa disclosed that the comprehensive security teams, which include personnel from the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), the local Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps (Folumo), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Forest Security Services, have been stationed at strategic points.
These operatives will maintain a visible presence at school entrances, premises, and adjoining areas to ensure effective surveillance and facilitate a swift response to any emergency situation. The Chairman emphasized that his administration remains dedicated to prioritizing the welfare and security of children and noted that the council has already begun an extensive assessment of security needs across all educational institutions to identify and address any existing gaps.
He appealed to school administrators, parents, and community leaders to fully cooperate with the deployed security personnel by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities around school corridors to build a safe, peaceful, and enabling atmosphere for quality education.
