ICSAN Lagos Summit on October 30 to Tackle ‘Governance Redefined’ Amidst ESG and AI Disruptions

The Lagos State Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) is set to host its annual summit on Thursday, October 30, 2025, to address the radical transformation taking place within corporate governance practices globally and in Nigeria.

The Chairperson of the Chapter, Ms. Efosa Ewere, announced the details at a press conference on Wednesday, stating that the summit’s theme is: “Governance Redefined in a Business Environment: A Continuum or New Paradigms?”

According to Ms. Ewere, the theme was chosen to drive robust discourse among governance professionals on navigating the significant shifts caused by new regulatory frameworks, mounting Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) demands, and rapid technological advancements, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“With the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, governance practice in Nigeria has already witnessed a rapid transformation,” Ewere stated. “These changes, alongside sustainability reporting requirements and regulatory expectations from bodies like the Financial Reporting Council and SEC, demand that professionals rethink traditional governance models.”

The forum, scheduled to hold at The Jewel Aeida, Lekki Phase 1, will enable participants to examine whether existing governance structures can simply continue or if a completely new paradigm is necessary to reflect the evolving business realities.

The event will feature Prof. Yinka Omorogbe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), as the keynote speaker, and the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, as the summit chairperson. ICSAN expects the discussions to culminate in a communiqué aimed at strengthening corporate governance culture and fostering ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability across both private and public sectors.
