Meet the 29 Newly Elected APC National Executives; Yilwatda and Basiru Retain Top Spots as Ruling Party Unveils Full Leadership List

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially inaugurated a new National Working Committee (NWC) following its massive 2026 National Convention in Abuja. The newly elected officials resumed their duties at the party’s national secretariat, carrying a fresh mandate to consolidate the “Renewed Hope” agenda.

The “Unity in Progress” convention “flipped the script” on many who expected a divided house. Instead, through the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the APC governors, the party presented a unified front, electing 29 key officials to steer its ship. Professor Nentawe Yilwatda’s re-election as National Chairman is seen as a strategic move to maintain stability, while the return of Senator Ajibola Basiru as Secretary ensures continuity in the party’s administrative “Solution” to political engineering.

Among the new faces and returning champions are Murtala Aliyu Kankia (National Legal Adviser), Felix Morka (National Publicity Secretary), and Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu (National Organizing Secretary). The team also includes specialized roles such as Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole, who was elected as the National Leader for Persons with Disabilities. President Tinubu, addressing the delegates, noted that this team represents the “diversity and strength” of Nigeria, urging them to prioritize grassroots engagement above all else.

With the convention now over, the focus shifts to the 2027 polls. The new NWC faces the immediate challenge of integrating high-profile new members, like Adamawa’s Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, and reconciling aggrieved factions in several states. However, with a settled leadership and a successful affirmation of the President’s 2027 candidacy, the APC appears to have built a solid foundation for the political battles ahead.
