MEGA BUDGET FOR A MEGA CITY! Lagos Assembly Gives the ‘Green Light’ to Record-Breaking ₦4.4 Trillion Spending Plan for 2026!
Lagos is ready to spend big in 2026! The State House of Assembly has just approved a staggering ₦4.4 trillion budget, making it the most ambitious spending plan ever seen in any Nigerian state.
The lawmakers gave their final “yes” after weeks of checking and adjusting the numbers. This massive pile of cash is designed to turn Lagos into even more of a construction site in a good way. Over 60% of the money is going straight into building things like new roads, fixing the rail lines, and finally making the Fourth Mainland Bridge a reality.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s team is calling it the “Budget of Continued Transformation.” While a lot of money is going into big bridges and trains, the House of Assembly made sure to pull some funds back toward the things that matter to everyday people, like better medicines in local clinics and more security in our streets.
To pay for all of this, the state is betting on its own ability to collect taxes and its strong position as Nigeria’s economic heart. If everything goes according to plan, 2026 will be the year Lagosians see more orange buses, smoother roads, and better schools.
