Minister of Power, Adelabu, Sympathises with Ayefele Over Fresh FM Fire Incident

The Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, has extended his heartfelt sympathies to gospel artiste and media personality Dr. Yinka Ayefele, following a devastating fire that gutted his radio station, Fresh FM, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the minister described the incident as sad and unfortunate, noting that Fresh FM is a pillar of quality broadcasting and public enlightenment in the state.

The fire, which broke out at the station’s head office in the Challenge area of Ibadan on Friday night, caused extensive damage to several key facilities. According to the station’s management, the inferno badly burnt the studios of both Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, in addition to the newsroom, transmitter room, and several other vital equipment.

While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Minister Adelabu used the incident as a platform to stress the critical importance of electrical safety.

“This tragic event highlights the critical importance of electrical safety in both public and private facilities,” he stated. “As Minister of Power and a keen follower and listener of Fresh FM, I urge all stakeholders to prioritize regular inspections of power infrastructure and adhere to safety standards to minimise fire risks.”

Adelabu also commended the swift and courageous efforts of the Oyo State Fire Service and the surrounding community for their roles in containing the blaze. The management of Fresh FM has confirmed that no casualties were recorded and has expressed gratitude to the public and first responders for their support.
