Ooni Unveils Indigenous Website ‘2geda’ to Boost Commerce and Connectivity
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has unveiled Nigeria’s first indigenous social media and business networking platform, named “2geda,” in a bid to revolutionize the country’s digital landscape and empower local entrepreneurs.
The ceremonial launch took place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Akanran, Ibadan, with the monarch championing the platform as a historic step towards redefining Nigeria’s digital presence on the global stage.
Co-founded by the Ooni and tech entrepreneur Smith Chukwuemeka Eze, “2geda” is designed to serve as a digital home for Nigerians and Africans worldwide. Unlike traditional social media platforms, it integrates social features with a robust business ecosystem, allowing users to connect and interact while also enabling them to establish online storefronts and leverage a comprehensive business directory.
“It is not just a social media but also a business-listing platform which allows users to enlist their businesses within niche-based categories,” Eze stated during the unveiling. “It is the first indigenous digital platform which combines social with business networking and promotions.”
The platform’s features are extensive, including feeds, voice and video calling, a business directory, commerce tools, and a reward system, among others. The Ooni’s initiative is aimed at providing a safe, inclusive, and innovative space for communication, collaboration, and commerce, addressing the diverse needs of its users.
“2geda” is now available for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store, and its developers have guaranteed a high level of data security to protect users’ personal information. The unveiling is seen as a significant move by the Ooni to leverage technology for youth empowerment and economic development across the nation.
