Peter Obi Insists Nigeria’s Positive Turnaround is Achievable Within Four Years
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has reiterated his staunch belief that Nigeria’s trajectory can be fundamentally and positively altered within a four-year window, provided the nation embraces principled leadership and an urgent focus on production.
Obi, known for his core message of fiscal prudence and accountability, insists that the country’s current severe economic and security challenges are not insurmountable and can be reversed with rapid, dedicated effort.
Speaking on the urgent need for a national reset, a message he has consistently voiced in his recent calls for reform following Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1, 2025, Obi emphasized that decisive governance is the key.
“What Nigeria needs is not an endless cycle of promises, but a leadership that is committed to moving Nigeria from consumption to production. The four-year constitutional tenure is more than enough time to lay the solid foundation for a new Nigeria and see visible, positive changes in our security, power, and economic stability,” Obi stated.
He lamented the decades of corruption and mismanagement that have led to the decline of critical sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure. According to the former Anambra State Governor, the change he envisions is centered on stopping the massive waste in governance and redirecting the country’s resources to stimulate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) a sector he describes as the greatest productive area in any modern economy.
“Nigeria is not lacking in knowledge or resources; what we lack is the courage and accountability to act on what we know. If the nation can adopt a transparent and responsible fiscal regime, a positive and rapid transformation is indeed achievable,” he concluded, challenging citizens to demand accountability from their leaders to accelerate the much-needed national revival.
