Tinubu Hails Nigerian Students for Winning Big at 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals

Abuja, Nigeria  August 6, 2025

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated three outstanding Nigerian students for their historic performance at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the trio for their remarkable achievements, describing them as “shining examples of Nigeria’s future promise.”

The celebrated students Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu (17), Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), and Hadiza Kashim Kalli —represented Nigeria at the global English language competition, where they emerged victorious over thousands of participants from 69 countries.

  • Rukayya took home the title of Overall Best in Debate

  • Hadiza earned the Outstanding Talent Award (Gold Medal)

President Tinubu commended the students for their brilliance and discipline, stating that their accomplishments reflect the vast potential of Nigeria’s youth and underscore the importance of investing in education.

“These exceptional young Nigerians are proof that the nation’s future is bright. Their achievements are a testament to the quality of our educational institutions and the promise our youth hold,” the statement read.

The President also acknowledged the efforts of schools and educators, noting that such victories reaffirm the capacity of Nigeria’s academic system to produce world-class talent. He highlighted the Federal Government’s ongoing investments in the education sector, including the removal of financial barriers through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to support indigent students.

“President Tinubu encourages Nafisa, Rukayya, and Hadiza to remain focused in their academic pursuits and wishes them continued success,” the statement concluded.

The students, all enrolled at Nigerian Tulip International College in Yobe State, have already received recognition from the Yobe State Government, prominent Nigerians, and academic institutions.

Among those celebrating the students was Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, President of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria and former Minister of Communications. In a social media post, Pantami called on the Federal Government to formally honour the girls and their teacher.

“Let’s invite our daughter, and the daughter of all Nigerians, along with her teacher, to the Presidency. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” Pantami wrote.

The victory has sparked nationwide celebration and renewed calls for greater support for academic excellence across the country.
