Senator Natasha Distributes 2,000 Bags of Rice Across 5 Kogi LGAs, Partners Husband to Empower Constituents with Business Tools for Christmas
In a major festive intervention aimed at alleviating the economic pressures on her constituents, the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has commenced the distribution of over 2,000 bags of rice and other essential relief materials across the district.
The distribution exercise, which kicked off on Tuesday, December 23, and continued today, Wednesday, December 24, 2025, was executed simultaneously in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okene, Okehi, and Ogori-Magongo Local Government Areas. The initiative is designed to ensure that no household in Kogi Central is left behind during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Speaking through a statement issued by her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko, the Senator emphasized that the outreach was born out of a commitment to “practical compassion.”
“Christmas is a season of love, sacrifice, and shared joy,” the Senator noted. “At a time when many households are struggling with the rising cost of living, it is imperative that leadership reflects the immediate needs of the people. This distribution is about ensuring our families can celebrate without the burden of food insecurity.”
The 2025 Christmas drive was notably multi-layered. While the Senator focused on food palliatives, her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan (the Alema of Warri Kingdom), sponsored a separate empowerment phase. This featured the distribution of tricycles, deep freezers, and sewing machines to winners of a community raffle draw, specifically targeting market women and farmers to help boost their small businesses into the new year.
Community leaders and traditional rulers across the five LGAs have lauded the intervention as one of the most organized and far-reaching in the district’s history. “This is not just a symbolic gesture; it is a life-saving intervention for many widows and elderly people who were unsure of how they would feed their families this week,” a representative from the Ogori-Magongo community stated.
Senator Natasha reaffirmed that her office remains dedicated to a “people-centered” agenda, promising that more legacy projects in education, healthcare, and water infrastructure would be unveiled across the district in the first quarter of 2026.
Security agencies and community volunteers were deployed at the various distribution points to ensure the process remained orderly and that the items reached the intended vulnerable residents directly.
