STAY SAFE, LADIES! FCT Police Boss Issues Urgent ‘Stranger Danger’ Alert; Why That ‘Free Ride’ in Abuja Could Be a Deadly Trap!

The Police in Abuja have a simple but life-saving message for women today: that “kind stranger” offering you a free lift might actually be your worst nightmare.

The FCT Commissioner of Police has raised the alarm over a dangerous trend where criminals are using the guise of “Good Samaritans” to kidnap and rob women across the capital city. With many people struggling to find transport during rush hour, these “One Chance” operators are prowling the streets, looking for women to lure into their private cars with the promise of a free or cheap ride.

“Don’t let the smiling face or the fancy car fool you,” the Police cautioned. Once the victim is inside and the doors are locked, these criminals reveal their true colors, often robbing, assaulting, or holding their passengers for ransom.

The Police Command is begging women to stick to the popular “Painted Taxis” and official motor parks where vehicles are registered and monitored. They also advised that even when using ride-hailing apps, passengers should double-check the driver’s face against the app and send the car’s plate number to a loved one before the journey starts.

Security is everyone’s business, but for now, the FCT CP is making it clear: in the streets of Abuja, there is no such thing as a “free ride.” It is better to wait for a bus than to enter a car that could take you where you never intended to go.
