Tinubu Approves Expert-Led National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC) to Drive Seamless Execution of Landmark New Tax Laws

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC), an expert-led body tasked with ensuring the effective and coordinated rollout of the administration’s new tax laws. The announcement, made today, Friday, November 28, 2025, signals the government’s decisive transition from legislative reform to practical policy execution across all tiers of government.

The committee is set to be chaired by Mr. Joseph Tegbe, a respected Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) with over 35 years of professional experience in both the public and private sectors. The entire committee’s activities will be overseen by Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while Mrs. Sanyade Okoli, Special Adviser to the President on Finance and Economy, will serve as the Secretary.

President Tinubu emphasized that the effective implementation of the new Tax Acts signed into law in June 2025 is central to the nation’s economic transformation agenda and critical to strengthening public finance management while safeguarding the legitimate expectations of investors and productive sectors. He stated that the new Acts reflect his administration’s commitment to building a fair, transparent, and technology-driven tax system that supports economic growth.

The NTPIC’s mandate emphasizes broad stakeholder consultation through nationwide engagements with the private sector, professional bodies, and subnational governments, alongside public awareness campaigns. This inclusive approach is aimed at ensuring coherent and well-aligned implementation, enhancing revenue mobilization, minimizing leakages, and reinforcing accountability throughout the transition process to the new fiscal framework.
