Tinubu Vows to Smash ‘Heartless Cowards’ Behind Plateau and Kaduna Massacres; President Deploys New Tech to Track Killers After Palm Sunday Bloodshed

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern “final warning” to the perpetrators of recent violence in Plateau and Kaduna states, promising that the federal government will no longer tolerate the targeted killing of defenseless citizens. In a statement released on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the President “flipped the script” on the usual security response by announcing the deployment of high-end surveillance technology to hunt down the gangs responsible for the Palm Sunday weekend attacks.

The “Solution” to the recurring cycle of violence in the Middle Belt, according to the President, lies in proactive intelligence and advanced tracking. The attacks in Jos North and Kagarko which left a combined total of over 40 people dead—were described by the Presidency as a deliberate attempt to “trigger a spiral of reprisal attacks.” By targeting soft targets like wedding guests and busy business districts, the President noted that the “heartless cowards” are testing the nation’s unity.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has already moved to contain the tension in Jos by declaring a 48-hour curfew, a move the President commended while urging residents to comply with all safety and relocation directives. In Kaduna, where 28 people remain in captivity following the wedding raid, the President has ordered an “immediate rescue mission,” hailing the early return of two victims as a sign of the security agencies’ ongoing efforts.

As the nation enters the final days of the Easter season, the President called on community and religious leaders to “reject retaliation” and foster social cohesion. He maintained that his administration’s acquisition of new, sophisticated equipment marks a turning point in the war against banditry, ensuring that those who “sneak under the cover of the night” to kill will soon have nowhere left to hide.
