Uzodimma to Lead Star-Studded Committee as APC Gears Up for Massive March Convention

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is officially in “convention mode.” In a move to ensure its upcoming national gathering is more of a celebration than a battlefield, the party has assembled a 73-member “Dream Team” to steer the ship.

At the helm of this high-powered Central Coordination Committee is the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma. He won’t be working alone; the APC has flanked him with heavy hitters, including Kwara’s Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as his deputy and the experienced former caretaker chairman, Mai Mala Buni, as the committee’s secretary.

This committee is essentially a gathering of the party’s “founding fathers” and current titans. From the Senate President and the Speaker of the House to all 29 APC governors, the message from the NWC is clear: everyone has a seat at the table. Even former chairmen who have seen it all, like Bisi Akande and Adams Oshiomhole, have been pulled back into the fold to provide “elder statesmanship” as the party prepares for its March 25-28 showdown.

The stakes are high. This convention isn’t just about picking names for office; it’s about proving that the APC can remain a united front as the 2027 election cycle begins to loom on the horizon. By putting a sitting governor and the head of the Governors’ Forum in charge, the party is betting on Uzodimma’s reputation for “staying power” and organization to prevent any last-minute surprises.

With the 90,000km fibre optic project 60% done and the economy aiming for that $1 trillion mark, the APC is looking to use this March convention as a springboard to show Nigerians that their “house” is in order and ready for the future.
