Oyebanji Charges Ekiti Health Workers to Uphold Professionalism While Inaugurating Fully Equipped General Hospital

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, today, Thursday, November 6, 2025, laid down a clear mandate for the state’s entire healthcare workforce, urging them to combine the highest standards of professionalism with genuine compassion when attending to citizens.

The directive was delivered through his Deputy Governor, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, at the inauguration of the newly renovated and fully equipped General Hospital in Ifaki Ekiti, an event marking a significant stride in the administration’s healthcare renewal agenda.

Governor Oyebanji stated that the massive investments poured into the health sector which include the provision of cutting-edge equipment are strategically designed to ensure quality healthcare is no longer a privilege but is accessible and effective for citizens, especially those residing in rural communities.

Addressing the medical personnel directly, the Governor said, “Our doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, I urge you to make the best use of this facility and the equipment provided, deliver care with compassion, uphold the highest professional standards and let this new environment inspire excellence.”

Modern Equipment to Inspire Excellence

The newly upgraded General Hospital at Ifaki Ekiti is now furnished with a suite of modern equipment, including a fully kitted theatre hall featuring an anaesthesia machine, operating tables, a patient monitor, and a defibrillator. The laboratory and recovery rooms were also comprehensively re-equipped to ensure smooth and well-supported post-operative care.

Furthermore, the Governor used the platform to appeal to the residents of the host communities, challenging them to view the new hospital as their own and actively protect it from vandalism and damage. He warned against the dangers of self-medication and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to continuously raising the standard of healthcare across every town and village in Ekiti.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, noted that the Oyebanji administration has now renovated and equipped five General Hospitals in the state, making quality healthcare increasingly accessible at the local government level.
