Delta Police Intercept Suspected Robber Attempting to Smuggle Fabricated Pistol Concealed Inside Loaf of Bread

The Delta State Police Command today, Saturday, November 8, 2025, announced a highly unusual and significant arrest, detailing how a suspected armed robber was apprehended with a firearm ingeniously hidden inside a common loaf of bread.

The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike (24), was intercepted on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Koka Roundabout in Asaba.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed in a statement that the incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m., when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation.

According to the statement, Chibuike’s “suspicious behaviour” caught the attention of the vigilant RRS operatives, prompting them to conduct a detailed search. In a surprising discovery that underscored the lengths criminals go to evade detection, a fabricated Beretta pistol was found carefully concealed inside a loaf of bread.

The suspect, a resident of Ogbeowele Quarters, Asaba, was immediately arrested and taken into custody. The recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit.

Ongoing Investigation

The Delta State Police Command confirmed that the investigation is now actively ongoing to ascertain Chibuike’s possible connection with recent incidents of armed robbery and kidnapping that have been reported within the Asaba metropolis and its adjoining communities.

CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, the Commissioner of Police, highly commended the RRS operatives for their professionalism and vigilance, describing the arrest as conclusive proof of the command’s sustained intelligence-driven operations.

CP Olufemi reaffirmed the command’s determination to continue identifying, arresting, and prosecuting criminal elements, regardless of the tactics they employ. He urged all residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely, credible information to the police, assuring that all reports would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
