Nigeria-Slovenia Chamber Urges Entrepreneurs to Tap into Central European Market, Citing Slovenia’s EU Membership and Stable Economy
The Nigeria-Slovenia Chamber of Commerce has strongly encouraged the Nigerian business community to actively explore the substantial trade and investment opportunities available in Slovenia, describing the Central European nation as a promising frontier for global expansion. The appeal was made on Thursday, December 4, 2025, during the Chamber’s 2025 Last Quarter Business Forum, a routine platform held in Lagos aimed at fostering bilateral economic growth.
The Director-General of the Chamber, Mr. Uche Udungwor, highlighted Slovenia’s strategic advantages to entrepreneurs, noting that the country is a member of the European Union (EU) and the Schengen Group, offering a stable, low-risk business environment and serving as a gateway to the broader Central and Western European markets. Mr. Udungwor confirmed that the Chamber’s mandate is to actively build, promote, and facilitate trade in key sectors of mutual interest, including agro products, industrial machinery, pharmaceuticals, ICT, and renewable energy.
While acknowledging the significant potential, the Director-General pointed out a substantial trade gap, citing UN COMTRADE data which showed Slovenia’s imports from Nigeria amounted to only $5.7 million in 2022. He stressed that the current synergy is aimed at rectifying this imbalance and boosting bilateral economic relations. Mr. Udungwor urged entrepreneurs to leverage the Chamber’s expertise, which is dedicated to providing up-to-date, practical information and advice necessary for Nigerian businesses to successfully enter and thrive in the competitive but rewarding Slovenian market. The forum emphasized that exploring this relationship offers Nigerian businesses a crucial opportunity to expand their horizons and increase foreign earnings.
