Nigerian Army Inducts 3,439 New Soldiers in Zaria, COAS Shaibu Charges Recruits on Unwavering Loyalty and Professional Discipline

The Nigerian Army injected a significant boost into its operational capacity with the formal induction of 3,439 new soldiers. The recruits, who are members of the 89 Regular Intake , successfully completed six months of rigorous basic military training at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The milestone was marked by a colorful Passing Out Parade (POP), which had the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, serving as the Special Guest of Honour and Reviewing Officer.

Addressing the newly minted soldiers, the COAS emphasized that their induction is a critical step in the Army’s strategic drive to expand its manpower and reinforce its capacity to decisively tackle the nation’s numerous security challenges.

“Your induction today not only boosts our manpower but reinforces our commitment to the safety and security of every Nigerian,” Lieutenant General Shaibu stated. “You have been moulded to meet the highest standards of soldiering and are now entrusted with the sacred duty of safeguarding the territorial integrity of our nation.”

The Army Chief’s charge focused heavily on adherence to military ethos. He sternly reminded the soldiers to uphold unwavering loyalty, discipline, professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights in all their operations. He stressed that their Oath of Allegiance binds them to uphold both civil and military laws and cautioned against any misconduct that could tarnish the image of the Nigerian Army.

Furthermore, Lieutenant General Shaibu noted the Army’s commitment to continuous improvement, informing the parade that President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new Depot Nigerian Army in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, a move aimed at further boosting the institution’s training capacity to produce more combat-ready troops for deployment across the country.
