RCCG Isolo Hosts ‘Jesus Market,’ Distributes Free Food Packages and Household Essentials to Hundreds of Lagos Residents
As the Christmas festivities approach, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Prosperity Assembly, has brought relief to hundreds of families in the Isolo area of Lagos by distributing free food and essential items. The outreach, tagged “Jesus Market,” took place today, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the church premises in Okeafa.
The event marked the second edition of the initiative, but with a significant philanthropic upgrade. While the first edition held in September offered goods at heavily subsidized “giveaway” prices, the organizers decided to make this festive edition entirely free of charge to cushion the effect of the current economic climate on the community.
Speaking during the distribution, the Resident Pastor, Bisi Folahan, explained that the initiative was rooted in the mandate of Christian Social Responsibility (CSR). “This particular edition focuses on the love of Christ. Jesus came as a gift to the world, and if He is a gift, then we should also give gifts to people freely,” he stated.
Each beneficiary family received a well-packed bundle containing staple foods such as rice, beans, and garri, along with other household essentials. The atmosphere at the church was one of immense gratitude as residents from the Ilamoshe and Okeafa communities queued to receive their packages.
Pastor Folahan revealed that the resources mobilized for this edition ran into millions of naira, made possible through the combined efforts of individual church members and support from various corporate organizations and foundations. He reassured the community that the “Jesus Market” is now a permanent fixture on the church’s calendar, scheduled to hold twice every year.
“This is God’s project, and we are already receiving support to ensure its sustainability. Our goal is to expand future editions to include medical interventions and educational scholarships for the less privileged,” Folahan added.
Beneficiaries who spoke at the event praised the church for its consistency, noting that the free food items would significantly ease the financial burden of the Christmas celebrations for their families.
