Newcastle Appoint Matthias Jaissle as New Head Coach in £9.5m Deal

English Premier League side Newcastle United have officially confirmed the appointment of 38-year-old German manager Matthias Jaissle as their new head coach, filling the vacancy left by Eddie Howe.

Jaissle has signed a four-year contract at St James’ Park after Newcastle agreed to pay a £9.5 million (€11 million) compensation package to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.

The former Red Bull Salzburg boss brings a impressive track record of silverware to Tyneside, having led Al-Ahli to consecutive Asian Champions League Elite titles during his tenure in Saudi Arabia, in addition to winning back-to-back Austrian Bundesliga titles earlier in his coaching career.
