APC Slams ADC for Blaming Tinubu Over Leadership Crisis; Riling Party Mocks David Mark’s ‘Poor Legal Strategy’ After ₦2m Court Fine

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has “flipped the script” on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), telling the embattled opposition party to stop “misleading Nigerians” about the source of its current leadership vacuum. On Friday, April 3, 2026, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru told reporters in Abuja that the removal of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from INEC’s records was a direct result of the ADC’s own “procedural lapses,” not a secret plot from Aso Rock.

The “Solution” to the ADC’s problems, according to the APC, is for the party to stop playing the victim and start learning how to follow legal protocols. Basiru, flanked by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, ridiculed the David Mark-led faction for allegedly jumping to the Court of Appeal while the same matter was still pending at a lower court. This “poor legal strategy” led the appellate court to label their appeal “incompetent” and order them to pay ₦2 million in damages to their rivals.

“The President lacks the constitutional authority to interfere in the internal affairs of other parties,” Basiru stated, dismissing claims that the APC is fueling the “Tsunami” of defections hitting the opposition. He argued that the ADC and PDP are currently “self-destructing” because they have failed to manage their own internal disagreements, preferring to spend their energy on “unserious political narratives” instead of grassroots organizing.

As the “Occupy INEC” protests continue in the background, the APC’s message is loud and clear: the ruling party will not act as a “National Secretary” for failing opposition platforms. With the 2027 race drawing closer, the APC insists that Nigeria’s democratic space remains wide open, but only for parties that are “serious enough” to manage their own affairs without crying to the public every time a court ruling goes against them.
