Terrorists Overrun Military Post, Kill 6 Soldiers, and Set Family Ablaze in Brutal Zamfara-Sokoto Raids

Terrorists have unleashed fresh horror across border communities in Zamfara and Sokoto states, overrunning a military outpost, killing six soldiers, and burning a father and his two sons alive during a midnight rampage.

The coordinated attacks targeted Kasuwar Daji in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, as well as Lajinge village in Sokoto’s Sabon-Birni Local Government Area.

In Zamfara, heavily armed gunmen stormed Kasuwar Daji around 11:30 pm, engaging troops stationed at a local military outpost in a fierce gun battle. The bandits overpowered the outpost, killing six soldiers before marching through the community to loot shops and kidnap over 75 residents.

Sokoto State suffered an equally gruesome ordeal when attackers invaded Lajinge village, operating virtually unimpeded for over four hours. During the assault, 12 residents were killed, six of whom died after gunmen trapped them in a room, poured petrol on the building, and set it on fire.

“They ordered those inside to come out, but when they refused out of fear, the attackers poured petrol on the room, opened fire, and set it ablaze,” a local resident recounted. “They kept shooting as victims tried to breach the door, leaving the bodies charred inside.”

Among those who perished in the blaze were the head of the household, Mallam Wauro, his two young sons, and three relatives who had sought shelter in the building.

The gunmen also rustled hundreds of livestock and dragged away dozens of villagers into the bush, though some young children were later abandoned on the outskirts of the town.

Outraged by the complete absence of security reinforcements throughout the four-hour ordeal, community leaders urged both state and federal authorities to urgently station heavy military presence in the area, warning that vulnerable border towns remain defenseless against recurring terror raids.
