Nigerian Army Kills Two Kidnappers and Seizes Large Cache of Ammunition in Kogi State

Nigerian soldiers from the 12 Composite Brigade have killed two suspected kidnappers and seized a large amount of ammunition during an operation in Edimogbo Forest, located in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The operation took place on November 3, 2026, as a follow-up to an earlier raid on November 2, where troops engaged with the criminals. Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the brigade, shared details of the operation in a statement released late Tuesday.

During the follow-up operation, soldiers tracked down fleeing suspects and cleared remaining hideouts. They recovered two AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, including 438 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammunition and 4,725 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Other items found included two bandoliers, two mobile phones, and a power bank.

The Army emphasized that this operation demonstrates their commitment to fighting crime and ensuring safety in Kogi State. They aim to maintain pressure on criminal activities and restore peace in the region.

Troops have been working closely with the Kogi State Police Command and other security agencies to combat kidnapping effectively across the state. The Army reported that their morale and efficiency remain high as they continue their efforts.
