Residents in several of Abuja’s most exclusive neighborhoods are recovering from severe devastation after an unprecedented late-night deluge submerged homes, collapsed compound walls, and swept away vehicles across the nation’s capital.

What began as a routine evening shower rapidly escalated into a raging flood after intense rainfall poured down continuously over the city center.
