Osun Government Establishes Joint Security Task Force in Response to Fresh Intelligence Alerts

In a decisive move to safeguard lives and property, the Osun State Government has approved the establishment of a Joint Security Task Force (JSTF) following recent security intelligence alerts.

The development was announced by the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, following an extensive State Security Council meeting. The strategic session was convened by Governor Ademola Adeleke and presided over by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, with the newly appointed State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, and other heads of security formations in attendance.

According to the state government, the newly formed task force is designed to supercharge inter-agency coordination, intelligence gathering, and rapid response operations. To guarantee an immediate and effective take-off, the administration pledged full logistical support and resources to empower security operatives stationed across high-risk zones.

While reviewing regional security dynamics, the Council allayed panic among residents, emphasizing that Osun remains peaceful and secure. However, authorities directed all security branches to maintain a 24-hour red alert, particularly targeting potential threats from criminal networks.

The government also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and citizens to scale up local security oversight and share timely intelligence. Furthermore, a collaborative framework was established between the state Ministry of Justice, the police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure that arrested criminal suspects undergo swift investigation and prosecution without administrative delays.
