Senate President Praises Tinubu’s Reforms, Promises Continued Support
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has praised President Bola Tinubu’s reforms, stating they are producing positive results. He made these comments during a visit to Tinubu’s Lagos home on Friday, which coincided with Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Akpabio led a delegation from the National Assembly, including Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu. He emphasized the need for legislative support for the Tinubu administration, highlighting that while challenges remain, the situation is improving. He noted that insecurity is decreasing, allowing people to feel safer.
During the visit, Akpabio acknowledged that some issues persist, especially with elections approaching. He described these challenges as “pockets of discontent” but expressed optimism for Nigeria’s future. He framed the country’s unity as a sign of resilience and divine favor.
Akpabio also mentioned ongoing efforts to revise outdated laws, particularly in taxation, to help reduce the cost of living. He pointed out that many laws had not been updated for decades and that recent changes have been made swiftly and with widespread support.
He urged Nigerians to evaluate the government based on results, noting the rapid passage of beneficial legislation. Akpabio concluded by reaffirming the National Assembly’s commitment to work alongside Tinubu’s administration to improve the country.
