Abia Governor Otti Forms Labour Party Campaign Council for 2027 Elections

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has set up a campaign council for the Labour Party’s 2027 governorship elections. This council will cover all three senatorial zones and various state constituencies.

The announcement came from Otti’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, on Friday. Otti will lead the council as chairman, with Ikechukwu Emetu serving as vice-chairman.

Agwu U. Agwu has been appointed as the Director-General of the council. Other key positions include Dr. Eric Egwuibe as Director of Finance and Dr. Chibuzor Obiesili as Director of Strategy and Planning. Kelechi Nwaiwu will handle legal matters as Director of Legal, while Onyebuchi Ememanka will manage publicity as Director of Publicity.

The council also includes a Security Directorate, led by retired AIG Arungwa Nwazue. There are three zonal coordinators: Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna for Abia Central, Chief Emeka Charles Kalu for Abia North, and Chimaobi Ebisike for Abia South.

Additionally, coordinators have been appointed for various state constituencies, creating a detailed framework for campaign activities. For example, Mr. Innocent Eleogu will oversee Ikwuano, and Col. Emeka Chilaka (retd.) will coordinate Umuahia Central.

The council aims to connect the state leadership with local constituencies to streamline campaign efforts. The inauguration of the council is scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026, at 12 noon at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.
