Anthony Gordon Scores First Goal for Barcelona in 3-0 Victory Over Getafe

Barcelona winger Anthony Gordon scored his first competitive goal for the club in a 3-0 win over Getafe on Saturday. This victory at Camp Nou extended Barcelona’s winning streak in La Liga to eight matches.

The 25-year-old England international, who joined Barcelona from Newcastle United in May, opened the scoring just 78 seconds into the match. His shot from 18 yards was deflected, helping it find the back of the net.

Gordon played a crucial role in the second goal as well. His pressing forced Getafe defender Zaid Romero into a mistake, allowing Gabriel Jesus to take possession and score.

Barcelona added a third goal in the second half when Lamine Yamal delivered a cross that Jules Kounde converted into a goal.

This win allowed Barcelona to match their best start to a La Liga season, achieving 24 points and a five-point lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid.

For Gordon, this goal was a significant achievement, coming in his seventh appearance for the team. He has already made an impact with four assists this season, showcasing his growing influence in Barcelona’s attack.

Gordon’s goal followed a series of passes that included an unintentional one-two with Getafe captain Djene Dakonam. After his shot deflected off a defender, he celebrated by thumping the Barcelona badge on his chest and performing his signature archer celebration.

With this goal, Gordon joins a select group of British players who have scored for Barcelona, including Gary Lineker and Mark Hughes in 1986. Barcelona aims to keep their winning streak alive as they pursue the La Liga title.
